today i officially started my triahtlon training w/ my coach Lisa Engles. the big dream is to qualify for ironman HI which will require me to finish a qualifying half-ironman race at about a 4.5 hr pace or an ironman race between 9.5 - 10 hrs. meaning that i need to shave off over 2 hours from ironman NZ race time. it's going to be a long road but one i'm actually looking forward to and one that i absolutely cannot do alone. its a bit weird to think of racing at such a level and at times i wonder if it's out of reach but that's the challenge i aim to rise to. a challenge most of the time i relish. i'm brainstorming ways to use this for raising money and awareness for the AIDS pandemic as i did w/ NZ i welcome any ideas and appreciate any and all encouragement. so far this year i'm signed up for a race in santa barbara and one in davis. perhaps i'll see ya there.
