sunday's retreat was great and i met some really cool people. ryan and holly sharp who are on a indefinite pilgrimage that has been going for about 3 months now - i must say i was bit envious. jason from berkeley, jenni from uzbec and now living in oakland. a good time.
in the midst of grad school when i was contemplating what would come next i remember having a conversation with my resonating friend Holli and i was telling her of my dream to lead a revolution in life ethos. one in which hours spent "working" would not be the dominate hours of my day, or my life. a different economy of living - a lofty goal that is some sense has come to reality and continues to, especially in light of recent events.
driving home this afternoon i wondered about a sliding scale economy of sorts. what if what you paid for certain items, services depended upon your income. the price of dinner out would be set by a scaling factor to be in some proportion to your income. i'm no economist, and i'm sure there are negative ramifications of such an idea but is interesting to think about.
