half dome
last week I got a call from my friend Shannon asking if I was interested in hiking Half Dome this weekend. I've been to Yosemite a few times and hiked all around Half Dome but never up to the top. I decided to go and left Friday at 8pm and arrived at 1am. A little bit longer of a trip than expected, you see I thought we were camping in the valley, little did I know that I had to drive all through the park and head south just past the south entrance. Then I wandered around like a frantic lost dog looking for the freaking camp ground as their were no signs and I had very vague directions. So after about 30 minutes of that I finally found the camp went to sleep and woke the next morning at 5:30am to head into the park to start our hike. We hit the trail at 8am (a little later than we hoped) and spent the next 12+ hours hiking up and back. It was wonderful - Yosemite is a spectacular place that simply grabs your breath and draws it out of you with it's silent granduer. I'm thankful to a God that creates such things for us to enjoy - what a tremendous gift.
