Today after shutting off my alarm at 6:15am I realized I had several missed calls from Joshua and Kristen Rudd. Turns out Killian Elijah Rudd was born this morning at about 1am. A healthy 9lbs 9oz and a beautiful baby. Such a delight, I love babies and God willing would love to have my own some day. Fabulous.
On the other end of the spectrum this afternoon at about 6:15pm Dan and I were returning home from Home Depot and saw what looked like the end of a fight with 4 or 5 youth walking away from a middle-aged man hooping and hollaring. We should have called it in. About 15 minutes later, gun shots rang out and one block from our house two men were shot, one most likely dead as they weren't able to recesitate him and the other in stable condition but wounded. Not sure if the two incidents were related but Dan told the police what we saw regardless. A small reminder of where I live and honestly I'm not sure I'd want to live anywhere else. Mom if you're reading this - please don't fret.
But this news shouldn't overshadow the new birth and may we work with the creator to ensure all life, new and existing receives love. May we be instruments of peace.

instruments of peace. may God protect you guys and let the light shine.
How can I not fret??? I know you are surrounded by a legion of angels, but I guess it is a mothers' lot in life to be protective of her children. You will understand someday when you have your own brood.
I love you,
Guess Who? Mom!!
