arrived in NYC today via the chinatown express. i hoped to plan some things on the bus ride but ended up falling asleep for the entire two hours. nyc was good today - went to ground zero and after looking over the memorial stuff got a little emotional about the whole thing. after that walked down to battery park, checked out the sphere, walked over to the american indian museum, then went down to the trinity church and staid for an evensong gathering which was very neat. it's an epispicalian church, we sang acapala/chant style hymns had a few scripture readings, a homily, then recited the apostles creed. a very cool night - i also ran into someone i used to work with - crazy. had a little dinner and then heard this bang - and low and behold they were shooting fireworks off a boat in the hudson river. supercool. i'm exhausted at this point and ready for bed.

here's some more details from the class. what is salvation? what does it mean to be saved? who brokers salvation? how does the kingdom of God fit into it all? how can the church respond to the AIDS pandemic? is salvation something we opt into or opt out of? my thoughts coming later......

the song continues playing..........
