i've been thinking a little bit about my previous post and a thought came to mind again today. where are the prophets in the congregations across america? the world? why is it that the only paid staff positions within churches are primarily pastors and admins. and what about the apostles? evangelists? teachers?
i question i have - do you think that the american church would be in the predicament it's currently in had it more officially recognized the prophets and had elevated them and the rest of the roles outlined in ephesians 4 with the pastor? this is nothing against pastors, they are indespensible and God's church would be lost without them, but how is that they got singled out so much?

you'd be interested in reading the leadership chapter in The Shaping of Things to Come by Frost and Hirsch. it is right along these lines.
okay, second time that book has been recommended to you- you have to read it!
