Hogmanay: the name, in Scotland, for the last day of the year.
The time has come to take a couple weeks off from blogging....I need the creative energy that spills onto this space for a book i'm going to start writing. There's over 3 years of archives available - want to witness the transformation of expression, check out the earliest compared to now. I might post sporadically.
One last story:
5:55 am the alarm rings my eyes squeak open, give me that snooze button.....10 more minutes it repeats only this time i awake. Throw my snow gear in a bag - "Andrew, you ready?" Do I need shoes......nah I'll be boarding all day, slippers will do fine. Off without hitch the road is ours. Fill up the gas tank in Lodi we're back on highway 88. Twenty miles later, the engine is reving but there's no power, hmm, shift gears, no help, try it again, no help, pull over. Something is definitely wrong with the clutch or manual transmission. Pop the hood - smoke from the bottom, not a good sign, check the transmission oil (which was a new discovery) empty. "Andrew, how far is Wal-Mart?".....
"Ya that's what I think, just over that hill, well let's starting walking with our thumbs out and hopefully someone will pick us up."
"Man walking in slippers sucks"
1 mile later a nameles angel picked us up - "Thank you so much, we're just heading down to wal-mart"......good thing we got picked up it was another 2 miles down the road. Pick up the transmission oil, a funnel and beef jerky......."I think we'll get picked up sooner carrying a jug of oil and a funnel"
"i sure hope so"
Our feet scurried accross the road, "thumbs out andrew - hey put the funnel on your thumb"
Angel #2 arrives, takes us to my car, and waits a little while chatting it up. Fill the transmission......it's too late....it's burned up. Ring dad on the tele says he'll drive down from kirkwood (60 miles) to meet us and we can call AAA. Tow truck arrives--- Paul --- get out of here...I went to junior with Paul and haven't seen him since. Weird.
Finally arrive at kirkwood --- too late to board, so we hang out, tour the house, work a little, eat dinner and proceed down to the spa to lounge. Couple of drinks at Bub's and we're ready for bed. We'll wake up early and hit the slops tomorrow....
7:30 am comes around.....man it feels warms down here usually overnight the temperature drops to about 40 or so. Outside to answer nature's call.....its raining.....its freaking raining.....not snowing raining....well so much for that....let's go back to sleep....rained all day so no snowboarding ;0(
The adventures never cease, and while we didn't snowboard, i did share laughs with andrew walking down the highway in our slippers. ;o)
Peace......see ya in a few.
