If you love me, you will obey what I command. - Jesus
I read this verse (John 14:15)a few years and it set me reeling a bit. I claimed to love Jesus but that meant I should be obeying what he talks about - was I doing that? am I doing that? A good question to wrestle with - it also refocuses our idea of love. It seems from this and other scriptures that love is something we can choose.

Obedience is key throughout the NT...not only in what Jesus is saying but other writers as well (Paul for example). Sometimes people get hung up on freedom in Christ (focusing in on that way too much) and forgot about the fact that obedience is stressed strongly too. That always makes for a fine line in how one lives! There are certain things which Jesus looks for in our lives as we continue to grow and develop and mature. Obedience and freedom go hand-in-hand.
