Matt is my closest friend from SJ and has plaid a major role in sharpening me and inspiring me to become who I've become.
A couple of obversations about the festival:
*what i had written earlier wasn't meant to be overly critical, it was actually more of a question about human nature, mainly what relationship there is between differennt substances and varying movements? Some of this stems from the power to peaceful festival, but also an article i read in the most recent Rolling Stone about Daniel Pinchbeck and the resurgence of hullicinagenic substances, mainly those of from plants, etc.
Marijuana does usually make a person more docile, so it would make sense to see its use at peaceful gatherings, cocaine during the 80's was the drug of choice during the rise in Wall Street, a more aggressive environment. Barbituates during the rock-n-roll surge in the 50's.
Maybe the question is, do we as humans once we've felt come certain emotion/soulful feeling seek to find something that will enhance that feeling?
Is there a relationship between peace and the use of substances?
If a side issue is the environment then it might prove useful to cease printing thousands of flyers and handing them out - it just creates litter.

ooh jeeez. litter. what if it was recycled paper.
recylced paper gets it at a little, still debris to pickup and do something with.
those were positive comments about a peace gathering...
how would you suggest advertising for such an event?
and were the alcohol and pot explicitly in the name of peace, or just people relaxing and having a good time?
...just thoughts. your post sounded a little harsh.
