Men live in a fantasy world. I know this because I am one, and I actually receive my mail there.
- Scott Adams
This quote came up on my google homepage today, I can't speak for all men but I know that I have a tendency to live in a fantasy world. I'm aware of the issues around me, like the gang violence in my neighborhood, probable pharmaceutical conspiracies to make money, wars, but I have a tendency to live looking just beyond some of these horizons thinking that what's really at stake is unseen and lies in the dark corners and confusion of the issues. I wonder at times at the cunningness of the one who likes the shadows and our naivete to fall into "issues" that really only distract us from what's at stake. Whenever my mind wanders into these waters I'm reminded of what Paul wrote to the followers of the Way in Ephesus, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." The frame of reference that my fantasy world creates inspires me to be healed from the inside so that I'm aware of what's around I can walk around in peace and discernment meeting things on their elemental level.
Let us be passionate in our beliefs, making a way of peace in the uproar, that our words and presence would be soothing conveying love and humility. Father be merciful with us, that your strength would pervade.
