christmas

I love Christmas and this year was no exception -- I've had a lot of thoughts to share on the subject but haven't alloted time for blogging any of it. When I was working with high school students in my community in San Jose every year when a holiday came up we would dig into the history of it and try and understand where our traditions came from. I wasn't around when the church decided to join the birth of Christ with the nordic celebration of winter solstice but I'd like to think that they were trying to redeem all of life. Breath a little of God's redemptive power into existing rituals and allow healing to take place. Which I hope to do with my life -- so it is with how I see Christmas today. I try not to worry about this, that and the other, what so and so said or how it's lost its meaning. I'm interested in taking it and breathing life into it, and all other aspects of life. Let's work with God in redeeming and healing the world.

exactly. i dislike the emphasis to restore christmas back to CHRISTmas. In my opinion, I wish we'd all let it be what it is to whoever it is. And in all things, hope for redemption to take place. Perhaps what im saying is an oxymoron to orthodoxy/praxy..but i guess i just really dont care to argue about stuff. i figure God is in control and if love is better than faith and hope, and it covers a multitude of sins, then lets just be "hippies".

i take it that u know what i mean by hippies.
